What is Kratom?

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a tropical evergreen tree from the same plant family as coffee. Its strains are named after the color of the leaf veins — red, green, or white — and each is known for different natural properties.

Like coffee, kratom’s effects depend on how much you take:

  • Smaller amounts may promote energy, focus, and reduced appetite.
  • Larger amounts may bring calm, euphoria, or relief.

Kratom leaves are dried and ground into a fine powder (or sometimes crushed) and can be consumed in different ways.

Important to know:

  • Kratom is not approved by the FDA, and it’s banned in some U.S. states.
  • Its active compounds, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, interact with the same brain receptors as opioids.
  • Overuse can be habit-forming and may cause withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, anxiety, trouble sleeping, or difficulty concentrating.

Please follow the manufacturer’s instructions and talk with a healthcare provider before use. By law, we cannot give dosing advice or specific recommendations. Enjoy responsibly.

What Are 7-OH and Pseudo?

7-OH (7-hydroxymitragynine) is one of the main active alkaloids found in kratom. It occurs naturally in small amounts in the leaves but is also produced in the body when kratom’s primary compound, mitragynine, is metabolized. 7-OH interacts with certain brain receptors that can influence mood, relaxation, and relief.

Pseudo (pseudoindoxyl) is a highly active derivative of mitragynine. It can occur naturally in trace amounts and may also form when kratom is processed or metabolized. Like 7-OH, it binds to some of the same brain receptors as opioids, which means it can have potent effects — but it also carries potential risks if misused.

Important to know:

  • Neither 7-OH nor Pseudo are FDA-approved.
  • Both are potent compounds and may be habit-forming with repeated use.
  • Possible withdrawal symptoms may include irritability, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and trouble focusing.
  • Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines and consult a healthcare professional before use.

By law, we cannot give medical advice or specific usage recommendations.
